“Start with a warm smile and raise your glass slightly...”
There's an old saying that a father holds his daughter's hand for a short while, but her heart forever. Looking at Julie today, I see the toddler who refused to wear anything but rainboots, the teenager who thought I was the most embarrassing person alive, and the incredible woman she's become.
Julie, from the moment you were born, you had me wrapped around your little finger. You still do. Every scraped knee, every nightmare, every heartbreak – I wished I could fix them all. And the hardest part of being your father is learning that I can't protect you from everything.
But then I met Michael. And I realized I didn't need to protect you anymore – because you found someone who would stand beside you and face the world together.
Michael, I'm not losing a daughter today. I'm gaining a son. And more importantly, I'm gaining the peace of mind that comes from knowing Julie is loved, respected, and cherished by someone worthy of her.
To Julie and Michael – may your marriage be filled with the same joy and love that you've brought to our family. May you always find your way back to each other, no matter where life takes you.
Julie, you will always be my little girl. And Michael, welcome to the family. Please raise your glasses – to the bride and groom!
